AMERICAN INSTITUTE FOR MANAGING DIVERSITY, INC.The American Institute for Managing Diversity (AIMD) was founded by Dr. R. Roosevelt Thomas, Jr. and has served as the leading resource for research and training in the field of managing diversity for over twenty years. Dr. Thomas' seminal work, Beyond Race and Gender, describes the use of what Dr. Thomas refers to as a “culture audit” in identifying cultural facilitators for, and/or barriers to, achieving effective diversity management. Over fifteen years ago, Dr. John Hutcheson, TRG's founder, began collaborating with Dr. Thomas and Ms. Terri W. Kruzan in refining and adapting research methods and procedures employed in culture audits in different settings. This collaboration resulted in AIMD's publication of Dr. Hutcheson and Ms. Kruzan's book, A Guide to Culture Audits. Additionally, Dr. Hutcheson has worked with AIMD on numerous diversity research projects.
